About Tempus

The first Tempus clothing range was launched at Professional Beauty 2007. The response was overwhelming, especially to the unique spa and salon uniforms made from bamboo-blend fabric.

Toby and Emma met through their involvement in the British textile industry. Toby has a long and successful background in textiles, with a particular interest in silk and other fine fabrics. “My involvement with textiles has taken me from silk to woollen yarns, carbon fibre to towels and bathrobes.

“I had been supplying yarns to Emma for some time, and with our complementary skills in retail, wholesale, design and textiles it made sense for us to join forces and develop Tempus clothing.”

Tempus spa uniforms break new ground

One day, when visiting a customer, we were asked if we could supply spa uniforms. “We just looked at each other and a light went on.”

They knew how hot and uncomfortable therapy staff can find their uniforms, and wanted to offer something new and different that staff would really want to wear. Guided by Toby’s knowledge of textiles and his contacts, the search for suitable fabrics lead them to bamboo fibre. “When we learned about the strength, softness, absorbency and easy-care properties of the new bamboo-based textiles, we realised this would be ideal for the salon and spa uniforms,” says Emma. “It's the material of the future - strong, soft, breathable, washes well and needs little or no ironing. It's perfect for the needs of the spa and salon industry.”

Tempus design & embroidery service

A recent development is bespoke design services, which means companies can have spa uniforms and leisure wear styled exclusively for them, and for sale to their clients.

Tempus exports set to grow

“It’s been an exciting rollercoaster of a ride,” says Toby, “we're a strong team and get fantastic support from both suppliers and customers. We all have so much passion and belief in what we do. We're over the moon with how our designs and revolutionary fabrics have been received and are looking forward to working with clients throughout Europe and beyond.”
